• Completed Matric or National Senior Certificate
  
• A tertiary qualification in risk management, law, short term insurance or other relevant qualifications that will be advantageous in the specialized liability space.
  
• 5 years insurance in a previous experience in a Liability underwriting role
  
• 60 FAIS credits/Full Insurance Qualifications (depending on DOFA)
  
• Completed RE5/RE1

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new liability products, this includes writing new policy wordings, training manuals, determine the required rating factors. Ultimately being the product specialist and go to person.
  
• Working closely with a dedicated Actuarial team to assist in rating of these new
  products.
  
• Assistance and guidance on all underwriting related queries received from the
  following departments:
  • Sales
  • Client Care Services
  • Brokers and Independent Brokers
  • Claims and Assessing
• Research and development in terms of the following:
  • Product development
    
  • System development
    
  • Policy wording updates and amendments
    
  • Premium rates
    
  • Conditions of cover
    
  • Schedule updates and amendments
• Assistance to the Training Department in terms of the following:
  • Training related queries
    
  • Development and updates on training material
    
• Underwrite complex commercial claims received and assisting the Claims and Assessing Departments with the following:
  • Investigation guidelines
  • Interpretation of cover and special conditions imposed
  • Attending the weekly claims meeting where these claims will be discussed
• Evaluate existing clients based on their profiles:
  • Flagged client profiles
  • Multi-claimant client profiles
  • Typical actions include cancellations, excess, premium and cover reviews
• Ad hoc IT testing
  • Testing of product and system developments
• Take ownership and responsibility of all client interactions
  • Meet performance targets and service levels
